DNSCMD /recorddelete successfully completing, but not actually deleting records. Help!

Question

Hello,

Running from Server 2008 R2 the DNSCMD /recorddelete is not deleting A records. The command says, "command completed successfully," however the A records still live in DNSMgmt --even after refresh after refresh.

dnscmd ServerName /recorddelete ZoneName NodeName RRType RRData[/f]

We've got over 500 A records to delete and it's a break fix for tonight. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi CEE JAY JAY

You can use the administrator permission to  run the cmd, use the following example command:

dnscmd dnsserver /recorddelete domainname dnsclientname A /f
