Question

Hello,

I'm getting the following error message on a Hyper-V server:

Log: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS-Admin
Type: Error
Event: 15268
Agent Time: 2014-06-06 09:51:01Z
Event Time: 07:50:19 AM 6-Jun-2014 UTC
Source: Microsoft-Windows-Hyper-V-VMMS
Category: None
Username: SYSTEM
Computer: SERVER.domain.lan
Description: Failed to get the disk information.

I can't find any information regarding this error message/ID. Is there anyone who received the same error message once?

Kind regards,

Rense Hartog

I think I found the answer to this. The Hyper-V server can't get the disk information because the Integration Services aren't up-to-date. I updated the services and I don't get the error message anymore.

Where are your VHD's located?

Are they local, CSV or SMB?

It could possibly be caused by a VHD being placed on an SMB share with incorrect permissions or of an un supported version.

The VHD's are located in a ClusterStorage. What do you mean with CSV or SMB?

CSV is clustered strorage, SMB is a file share.

Alright then. Again, the VHD's are located on a clustered storage. So I guess the permissions aren't the problem?

I can't find the VMMS service anywhere. Do you have a specific name for the service you're referring to?

Hi Rense,

Sorry for the delay .

VMMS is  " hyper-v virtual machine management" .

Hi,

could you please clarify what component you updated on which machine? I get that error message on my hyper-v host machine, not on a VM.

The host doesn't have any integration services (as far as I know).

So what do I have to do?

Hi gnargor,

The error should name a VM, because the warning is related to the Integration Services. You get the error on the Hyper-V host, but it should mention a VM.

How to update Integration Services? Should it be done on Hyper-V node or on VM?

Thank you

Hi MarioTunes,

You should connect to the specific VM and insert the Integration Disk. Please check out the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuJKdD35a34
