Hi Kevin,

In PowerPoint, please go to Slide Show tab, in Set Up group, click Set up Slide Show, make sure your Show type is configured correctly (do not select Browsed by an individual window):

Additionally, please confirm if the Taskbar shows when using the Full Screen mode in other applications. If the issue only happens in PowerPoint, I suggest we can try to start it in safe mode for further testing:

Press Win+R to open Run in Windows, type powerpnt /safe, press Enter.

Any updates in your side, please feel free to post back.

Regards,

Winnie Liang

Hi Winnie,

I'm having the same problem.  The Set Up Show settings are just as you show there, and the taskbar does disappear when Windows Media Player is in full screen mode.  I don't like the "automatically hide the taskbar when in desktop mode" because it drives me crazy.  What was the further testing you had in mind?

Thanks,

Sue

I installed some updates, restarted the computer and viola, no bar.  Posting the "solution" here in case anyone else is looking for help with this.  Thanks anyway!

I had the same problem, just open Task Manager, find Windows Explorer, and click Restart. Always the first thing I do when I encounter problems like this.

Click “Task Manager” from the menu; In the next window, right-click “Windows Explorer” in the Processes tab, and select “Restart” option;
