We have Exchange 2010 in Windows 2012 R2 domain and would like to migrate user mailboxes onto Office 365. User UPN is like [email protected] and email address is different from UPN like [email protected].
Do we need to match UPN to SMTP domain for AAD connect DirSync?
Can we synchronize users and migrate mailboxes with both different domains?
We are planning to AAD connector for DirSync for SSO with password hash.

Hi Tek,
Agree with Ed. It's strongly recommended to keep UPN and email address matching. Here is a blog explains it in details, for your reference:
Office 365 – Why Your UPN Should Match Your Primary SMTP Address
For Question 2, yes, you can sync users and migrate mailbox, although UPN domain and SMTP domain names are different.

The UPN and SMTP address may have different domains but that is strongly discouraged. I did have one customer who had to do this because of an on-premises security application that made use of the UPN. They decided that it was more trouble to change the UPN than it was to train users of the difference and where to use each.

>>> Do we need to match UPN to SMTP domain for AAD connect DirSync?
It is not strictly required but strongly recommended if only to keep user confusion to a minimum.
>>> Can we synchronize users and migrate mailboxes with both different domains?
It depends on what you mean by "different domains". AD domains? E-mail domains? AD forests?
