Question

Thursday, August 16, 2012 12:57 PM

so I downloaded the ISO and mounted it.  Started the install and got the below.  Been looking and not seeing anything that says what is the issue at all.  doesn't give any hints/tips/help and i've not seen anyone else yet have the same issue.

Any ideas?

It looks like installation of .NET Framework 4.5 failed.

What Windows version? Were there any beta/RC/RP versions of VS 2012 installed previously?

Please provide install logs as follows:

collect your install logs with this:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=E0DA314F-6216-4A18-BC6B-7D29CF83AF20&displaylang=e&displaylang=en

After you run Collect.exe, you'll find vslogs.cab in your %temp% directory. Please upload vslogs.cab to a public site, like SkyDrive, and post the link here.

Hi kpdn,

I feel a little confused about your issue, as you try installing VS2012 Premium but I only find the VS Ultimate installation log. So please have a double check to make sure you have uploaded the correct log files.

Please follow the following steps to collect the log files:

1). Re-download the VS2012 Premium from the Microsoft official site here: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/11/en-us/downloads#premium
2). Temporally turn off the anti-virus and antispyware software during installation.
3). Run the installer with the administrator privilege.
4). If the installation still failed, the use the collect.exe tool to collect the log files which described in pvdg42's reply.

Thanks.

I've given a link to the direct installation log that it generates.  I ran the tool, collect,  immediately after the failure as suggested.  It doesn't say it supports 2012 when you get it from the link you provided. Not sure if that is playing a part.

I've re-tried the download and install and same result.

We need ALL the logs in the vslogs.cab file.

Please provide the vslogs.cab file as requested previously.

The file you provided is not for .NET Framework 4.5, and that's where the issue is.

Hi kpdn,

What about your issue now? If you still have that issue, please send me the correct vslogs.cab file for investigation.

Thanks.
