Hi,

all VPN user work fine. VPN work with RADIUS and Active Directory. Users send user name and password using L2TP.

But one user have issues. When he try connect to VPN serve, he get error.

At event logs:

Log Name:      Application
Source:        RasClient
Date:          18.10.2017 18:23:31
Event ID:      20227
Task Category: None
Level:         Error
Keywords:      Classic
User:          N/A
Computer:      Anton-Asus
Description:
CoId={99DDF478-135E-448D-8E42-82611C0D2BA6}: The user PC-ASUS\LocalUser-Asus dialed a connection named Contoso.com which has failed. The error code returned on failure is 691.

At same home network other device (notebook) with same domain user , work fine.

Why this PC send local user name, instead domain user?

Delete all WAN miniport, and re-new devices.

Than  connection was established.

Hi,

1. If you have two or more VPN connections set up on your computer, ensure that only one is running and disconnect all other ones.

2. Check for any firewall and antivirus programs that may stop access to the VPN ports.  Temporarily disable them to determine if they are the cause.

TCP Port 1723 and GRE Protocol 47 must be opened/enabled for PPTP VPN connection

Some routers require PPTP pass-through enabled in the router

3. Try standard troubleshooting steps:

Reboot the computer

Delete and re-configure the VPN set up

Test the VPN on another computer/device on the same network. If it does not work, your network is stopping the VPN access.

Test the VPN on another network using the same device. If it does not work, your device has security software stopping the VPN access.

Hope it helps.

Tao

Thanks. I well try.

But why I get error. VPN connection try to send LOCAL user conditionals. In VPN option I set domain user account and password. And when VPN ask for conditionals, I give domain account, not Local user.

Why I get user "PC-ASUS\LocalUser-Asus" in event?

thanks for your interest in the topic. User change router. VPN works on notebook, over WiFi or LAN. On PC get error. Old router or new, - does not matter.
P.S. Router use PPTP for ISP connection.

Confirmed to work for me.

  1. Uninstall each wan miniport driver on Device Manager.
  2. Rescan ahrdware changes

Thank you.

I have the same error, when I delete the WAN connections miniport works but only lasts until the next reboot.

I suspect it's an application using port 1723 but I run the netstat command and I don't see anything referring to this port.
