When copying from another source and pasting into excel sometimes the information will paste to the wrong cell.
Example: I want to paste info into column Q. I copy the info from the source (typically a website), select column Q, paste, and instead of pasting into Q, the info pastes into R (which is the next cell over).
If I select R and copy the information that incorrectly pasted to R (when it should have gone to Q) it pastes correctly into the chosen cell (instead of skipping to the next cell like it did when copying from the outside source ).
Sometimes the info from outside sources pastes correctly but the issue frequently comes up and it's very annoying and time consuming.
thanks

This probably means that either there was a tab character in front of the text that you pasted, or that the source data is in a table and includes an extra (possibly hidden) cell to the left of the cell that you copied.
