What is Microsoft.VsHub.Server.HttpHostx64.exe?

Question

Thursday, July 30, 2015 1:13 AM

I'm using VS 2015.  Programming in C#.  A process named Microsoft.VsHub.Server.HttpHostx64.exe has appeared in Task Manager, and shockingly has a 2GB working set, and has consumed 12 hours of CPU in the last few days.  I have no idea what this is, or why it is using so much resources.  Haven't found documentation on it.  I presume it is part of VS 2015.

Please advise.  What does this fellow do for me?  Do I need to do something to get it under control?  Can I just kill the process?  Surely it must have a memory leak. ???  If there is a reference online, please point me to it.  (I've tried Google and Bing with no success.)

Hi FAntonio2,

Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.

I did some research about this Microsoft.VsHub.Server.HttpHostx64.exe, I just know that the Microsoft.VsHub.Server.HttpHostx64.exe process will outlive the devenv process. It will eventually terminate, usually about 5 minutes after the last devenv/blend instance closes. The process keep track of incoming requests, and after a period of inactivity will terminate.

However, I did not find any official document about this Microsoft.VsHub.Server.HttpHostx64.exe. So I suggest you should submit this feedback to Microsoft Connect feedback portal: http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/CreateFeedback.aspx, Microsoft engineers will evaluate them seriously.

After you submit the feedback, you can post the link here which will be beneficial for other members with the similar issue.

Thanks for your understanding.
