Question

Hi folks,

windows 8 recently upgrade to win10. After that the windows explorer start to behave strange. When it is opened it start searching the 'quick access' (not showing it right away, but showing progress bar and 'waiting for result' and that goes on for minutes, up to 10-15min.

I have changed the folder options to open in 'this-pc', but it behaves the same. I also noticed that the settings under the 'View' menu are grayed out and it is not possible to change the view for example from details to tiles. Also I notice that the 'Option' button is grayed out so I cant make any changes (se attached screen shot).

Have you seen this before? Any suggestions what to do?

Thanks in advanced.

Hi Bjarni,

Try use DISM command to repair Windows image at first.

Repair a Windows Image

Also, check for updates in update & security settings, make sure system is up to date.

After above operations, reboot computer to see the result, or create another account for test, there is a possibility that the user profile broken during upgrade.

Hi guys,

thanks for your reply. For the record, I did this in that order:

  1. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
  2. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
  3. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  4. sfc /scannow

Reboot and everything worked like a charm.

Thanks!
