CryptoAPI Private Key pop up

Question

Hello Guys!

This is the first time I'm asking for community help cos I didn't find any relevant information anywhere else so please forgive me if I put this into the wrong category:)

We have recently enabled strong private key protection during certificate import, which should pop up a window everytime the private key is used. We are using this certificate to login into VPN and on about 10% of computers where this security option was enabled, a window about private key usage is being randomly popping up and I cannot find why! Even when I shut down VPN client and stop all its services popup keeps opening which leads me to question what is using the key??? If I press Don't allow pop up is instantly back and if I press Allow it appears again after few hours (about 4times/day). Can please anyone advise how to find out what is trying to use the key?

I have tried to enable CAPI2 logging in windows but it shows numerous entries which leads nowhere - couldn't find any record related to my VPN certificate.

Thanks all!

Hello Teemo! Thanks for fast reply, but I knew what is causing the pop up (the enabling strong private key) but the question is how to find out what is accessing the private key? There has to be a tool or a log describes at least which program or process is using the key right?
