How to get rid of dependence Function Discovery Resource Publication service from HTTP service?
I keep getting an Error EventID 7023 in EventViewer "The Function Discovery Resource Publication service terminated with the following error: The requested address is not valid in its context."
Function Discovery Resource Publication service depends on the HTTP service, Remote Procedure Call (RPC) (DCOM Server Process Launcher, RPC Endpoint Mapper)
I suspect that the Error EventID 7023 arises from the lack of HTTP service in services.msc
All of the above services are set to Autostart.
I tried to set the Function Discovery Resource Publication service to Automatic (Delayed start) - problem is not solved.

Hi smarty8,
Yes, if we would like to use Hoemgroup, then this service is supposed to keep running.
It won't affect the system performance, if we don't use homegroup. By the way, I also don't have Http service and don't receive error 7023.
My two other testing machines even don't have this service running on it.
So if currently we don't have homegroup configured, please change the Service status to stopped, and set it to manually start type.
Regards

I already wrote that WinHTTP missing in services.msc. Accordingly, the Service Control Manager gives an error.
C: \ WINDOWS \ system32> sc query WinHTTP
[SC] EnumQueryServicesStatus: OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
However, Function Discovery Resource Publication service depends on WinHTTP. By this I suspect that the Error EventID 7023 arises from the lack of HTTP service in services.msc

Hi samrty8,
To have Http service available, we need first enable IIS under turn Windows Features on or off.
And the Function Discovery Resource Publication service is set to manually ans the status is stopped.
Please try to set it as the the above, then check to see if this would work.

I know HTTP service requires installation of IIS. But I do not need IIS, so I asked whether it is possible to rid Function Discovery Resource Publication service from the HTTP service depending via SCM in order to avoid Error EventID 7023. Or maybe completely disable Function Discovery Resource Publication service if his work strongly requires HTTP service. How Function Discovery Resource Publication service disabling will affect the performance of the system? After all the work Function Discovery Resource Publication service depends HomeGroupProvider.
TIA
