Trusted DC Connection Status Status = 1311 0x51f ERROR_NO_LOGON_SERVERS

Question

There have been several failed migration attempts from SBS2003 to SBS2011. Many twists and turns which has brought me back to the basics. When I run netdiag on the source 2003 server, the resulting single error is:

Trust relationship test. . . . . . : Failed
[FATAL] Secure channel to domain 'STRATHAMFIRE' is broken. [ERROR_NO_LOGON_SERVERS]

Then I run      nltest /sc_query:strathamfire     and get similiar results:

Flags: 0
Trusted DC Name
Trusted DC Connection Status Status = 1311 0x51f ERROR_NO_LOGON_SERVERS
The command completed successfully

The only remaining reference to the new server as a result of the failed attempts is in Active Directory Sites and Services >> Sites/Default-First-Site-Name

I don't know if this is the cause of the original netdiag errior that I am trying to address.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Mike

Thanks for the reply. The problem was solved by running dcdiag and addressing problems identified there using ntdsutil and following the steps in the "Seize FSMO roles" section of this document:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/255504

Solving the dcdiag problems resulted in fixing the netdiag problem started in this thread. I am now on to another problem where the migration wizard is crashing on the destination server. I'll start a new thread.

Again, thanks for the reply.

Hi,

Let’s try to reset the security channel by running the command: NETDOM MEMBER \DOMAINMEMBER /JOINDOMAIN to check if the current security channel is corrupted. For more information, please read the following Microsoft KB article:

Resetting Domain Member Secure Channel

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175024

If it does not work, this should be a DNS and network connectivity issue. For more information, please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet article:

Network Connectivity

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc961803.aspx

Please run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard to fix the DNS and network connectivity issue. For the detailed information, refer to the following link:

How to configure Internet access in Windows Small Business Server 2003

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/825763

If the issue persists, please post the output of IPConfig /all for our further research.

For migration, the Destination Server is joined to the existing domain. The Source Server and the Destination Server can be members of the AD DS domain until the migration process is finished. After the migration is finished, you must remove the Source Server from the network within 21 days. For the detailed steps, you may read the following Microsoft TechNet article:

Migrate to Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard from Windows Small Business Server 2003
