Question
Thursday, July 11, 2013 3:53 PM
I have an existing room calendar in Exchange 2007 called "Achievement Hall" it's been there for a while and works great.
The bosses wanted to change the name from "Achievement Hall" to "Conference Center" so I went into the Exchange server and opened the properties on the mailbox and changed all instances of "Achievement Hall" to "Conference Center". I then went to the AD server and changed the User properties to match.
The problem is that users whom already have the "Achievement Hall" calendar are seeing no name change.
I have looked in the Room List when adding a calendar under Outlook and can see "Conference Center" listed and it successfully adds the strange thing is that although "Achievement Hall" is not listed anymore I can still type it in and it gets added as a calendar. Now I have tested and they are one and the same calendar.
I have tried updating the GAL in the user's Outlook but the name still says "Achievement Hall".
I certainly suspect that I have done something wrong and have taken a backup of the calendar in case I need to start from scratch.
Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Jesse

Hi,
If you changed the Conference Room Display Name in Exchange/AD It will replicate the changes within 15 minutes (By Default Replication Interval). But it will not update the same display name who are already accessing the calendar because Outlook already have cache exchange connection with Exchange server, So you have to Delete the calendar items in users outlook and re-add it by the new name.
Updating the Name changes in GAL it will take 24 hours (As per Offline address book update schedule time).

I don't believe the changes will be pushed out.
What if the user removes the "Achievement Hall" calendar and adds the conference room calendar by picking it out of the GAL?

Thanks for your reply.
Re-adding is certainly a possibility but something which I wanted to avoid. I just figured there would be a way to push out a name change.
It's still disconcerting to see that I can still connect to the old name. I guess it's do to being the same account and so the guid hasn't changed. There must be some field that I have missed in the name change or even a hidden or cached attribute that needs updating.
Is there a powershell command that can show me more than the gui?

get-mailbox | fl
I think that should display all the properties of this room mailbox.

Can you try with an Outlook client with cached mode disabled by any chance?

sounds like replication- normally takes 24 hours and up to 48 for changes to GAL to appear

Hi,
I recommend you clear the auto-complete list to check the result.
Here is the article for your reference.
Delete a name from the Auto-Complete list

If the issue persists, I recommend you use outlook online mode to check the result.
Thanks,
Amy

Thanks a lot to everyone for your help!
Looks like I will have to remove and re-add the calendar.
I have tried adding the old name and it is now not working so it looks like it was a replication issue.
