Can't connect to Azure VM via VNC

Question

Friday, November 18, 2016 4:59 PM

Hello everyone.
A virtual machine (with Ubuntu 16.04) has been created on Azure cloud and I've been given a host, an user ID and a password.
With such data, I'm able to access VM via SSH protocol. Anyway, I'd like to access machine via VNC, to have the GUI tools and use programs.
When I try to access VM via VNC from my client (Vinagre, on Ubuntu 16.04), the connection attempt is aborted immediately, while using VNC again I'm able to access another machine on Azure without any problem.

Is there a way to make my machine accept my VNC conenction?

thanks for support.

Hello,

Greetings from Microsoft Azure.

Please let me know if you have followed the steps mentioned in the below article to connect to Azure VM via VNC:

https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/VNC-Server

https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/faber/2014/10/16/how-to-install-vnc-in-azure-oracle-linux-vm/

If all of the above steps do not help, please let me know the error message that you get when you try accessing the Azure VM in order to proceed further.

Regards,

Sapna Girish

Hi,

According to your description, I think we should do some check:

1.Does the VNC service configure correct, service status, which port does the VNC listening on?

2.The VM’s iptables settings

3.The VM’s NSG settings, add the VNC service port to the inbound rules.

To troubleshoot this issue more efficiently, please provide more information.

If you still have questions, welcome to post back here. Thanks.
