Hi,
Welcome to MSDN forum.
Please try clicking “Manage Connections” in Team Explorer, re-connect to your VSTS team project. If you still get this error, please close all Visual Studio instances and delete the files under “%LOCALAPPDATA%.IdentityService”.
Open VS 2017, enter your username and password to connect to VSTS. Then open your project.
Best regards,
Joyce

I'm having this same issue under VS 2015.
I click on Manage Connections and I get the following message:
"Git is not supported on this server"
No idea how to proceed from here?
Cheers, Rob.

Greetings Robin,
I have the same issue - did you find a solution?
So far, I have performed steps in Joyce's 8/14/2018 post.

I'm getting the same error on VS 2015.
I reconnected to the team project (we use TFS). I deleted files under C:\Users....\Appdata\Local\IdentityService. I verified my accounts under Help/Register Product. Still getting the error.
