DHCP Database Corrupted

Question

Wednesday, February 10, 2016 2:54 PM

I recently built 6 windows server 2012 r2 domain controllers in a windows environment. I have gotten the following system errors below on 3 of the 6 DCs in the last month but never the same one. I regularly backup every night using dell appassure. Is this something I can ignore and has something to do with my backups?

Hi cshsysadmin,

For these two event ids, there is a work around below:

If the DHCP server database becomes corrupted or is lost, recovery is possible by replacing the server database file (Dhcp.mdb), located in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Dhcp folder, with a backup copy of the same file.

If DHCP Manager was used previously to perform a backup, you can obtain the backup copy of the server database file located in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Dhcp\Backup folder.

You can also restore the Dhcp.mdb file from a tape backup or other backup media.

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Administrators group, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.

The DHCP database remembers all attached database directories and files in the SYSTEM.MDB file.

If the database and backup directories are moved, the backup fails because it tries to backup the database from the old and new locations, but cannot find the database file in the old location.

Besides, please check if the following link is helpful:

The articles on this website are almost 10 years old. I am not sure it would pertain to windows server 2012 r2!

Do you have an antivirus running? If yes, please consider doing the proper exclusions and try again: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/953.microsoft-anti-virus-exclusion-list.aspx
