Question
Friday, April 7, 2017 8:50 AM
Hi there,
Experiencing some issues when removing formatting on bullets, i.e. to remove them completely, but they still remain. I try the following things:
i. Remove formatting
ii. Remove formatting, apply my own bulleting, then remove formatting again (works on most occasions to delete the original)
iii. Selecting "None" from the bullet library (as above, works on most occasions, but not all).
Is there a way when there is this anomaly of not being able to rid these bullets using "normal" methods to get rid of them.
Further to the above, I sometimes cannot get rid of these little square bullets (see below pic) - have no idea what they are or how to remove them and none of the above measures above in i, ii, or iii will remove them!
Thanks for any help in advance.
FP

Hi,
How the original bullets are inserted? Are they custom bullets?
Where did you get the documents? Downloaded from share or created yourself?
In theory, bullets should be removed correctly using the methods you mentioned. Could you share a problematic document to us so that we can try to figure out what is wrong? You can share it to us via GBSD TN Office Information Collection [email protected]. (Please include the thread URL in the email message for easy follow-up)
Thanks,
Steve Fan

Hi FP,
Thank you for the response. We have received the email message.
*>>Just to confirm, these docs with the bullet probs are being sent in from numerous different sources. *
In which format are these documents created? Have you tried saving the documents to another format, such as .doc and then see the result?
If we go to File > Info, can you see a Convert button there? If so, click the button to convert and then see if this issue continues.
Regards,
Steve Fan

Hi Steve,
Not working - however, I've realised the problem is occuring when PDFs are converted into Word. Subsequent to this process, the bullets won't respond to any of the options provided so far and the little square boxes require manual deletion - frustrating!
Maybe there is another way?

Thank you for the update. Is it possible to share a sample file so that we can further look into it?
Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Steve,
Apologies for the delay in responding.
I think the problem definitely lies with converting files from PDF into Word. Once the files are converted, PDF makes the square bullets but then these are not apparently compatible with any of the Word functions that you can apply to normal Word bullets in an effort to delete them (I have tried EVERYTHING!) - therefore, I then have to manually delete each one!
Are you aware of any other way I can delete these (PDF-style) bullets after the conversion? I may have to be stuck with just manually deleting them ;( !!
Thanks for your advice.
