Pin doesn't work after clearing TPM

Question

Wednesday, August 12, 2015 2:04 PM

Hi All,

After clean installing win 10 enterprise on my notebook I logged in with my work (azure ad) account.

I was pushed to enter a PIN code by policy and so I did. After this I also enabled the hello sign in so I was able to use fingerprint authentication.

I think after this I cleared the TPM module in my laptop since it gave some messages in my event viewer. After reboot I had to recreate a Pin and since this I receive a message like "The username or password is incorrect" when using fingerprint and pin.

I already tried resetting the pin, removing hello and rebooting the machine.

Somebody else with similar issues and hopefully a solution?

Thanks in advance!

My guess is that you're going to have to remove the computer from Azure AD
and then add it again.

The key in the TPM is created during that process. By clearing the TPM you
have deleted that key.

You should really check with your work's IT Support.

Hi,

If it's possible, please login your admin account with the password not the pin or fingerprint to check the result.

And then enable the TPM module back, sign out and sign in again with PIN code and fingerprint to check the result.

If it could work after enable the TPM module, I suggest you remove the PIN code and fingerprint. Afterwards, disable the TPM module and then re-set the PIN code and fingerprint.

I saw the disconnect from the azure AD, but I'm afraid this will delete my entire profile and settings. Is that right?

The TPM module says it is already ready for use.

So I tried these steps already.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't understand.

Did this issue occur after clear TPM module? Could you remove the PIN code now?

Based on my test of Domain not Azure AD, it won't remove your user profile folder.

Roger, this is not an answer. A post marked as an answer should address the question asked in the original post. Although Karen's response is correct, it doesn't address the question asked in the original post.

Not that I care at all about points, but my response did answer the original question.
