Question

I downloaded .ISO kits for Office 2016, Viso and Project from the partner web site recently.
When it offered 32/64-bit as the only option, I thought that both would be somehow included and that I would get a 64-bit version of these products.
Oh, the disappointment when I was presented with messages telling me that I would have to remove the 64-bit 2013 products I'm using. Seems the kit is designed to install 32-bit images on 64-bit architecture.
What was this kit made the first one Microsoft offered to partners?
If the full 64-bit imaged kits exist, when will they be made available via the partner web site?
Is there a reason why they are not there yet?
Thanks,

In Office2010, the setup.exe at the root of the installation media (as per the autorun) is really a "platform chooser", kind of a bootstrapper, which performs platform detection, with a preference for 32bit Office installation.
The same logic *may* have continued into Office2013 and Office2016 (I haven't checked each).
If so, then you should ignore the setup.exe at the root of the installation media and instead launch the platform-specific setup engine in the relevant subfolder of the media?
Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]

Hi,
As far as I know, Office 2016 32bit version and 64bit version usually have the separate download link/installation source. Please try to connect the partner web site and confirm the version of your source.
Then, Upgrading to Office 2016 will remove any Office 2013 software currently installed on your PC. Thus, the alert message might be pop-up that due to this reason.
I hope the above information helps. Reply with the result and I’ll be glad to further assist you.

Thanks George,
Usually, the partner site provides a dropdown and we can select 32 or 62. Currently we get only 32/64 as an option. It just seems a cop out because I can't see why someone who has 64-bit would want to throw away the benefits for a few minor feature differences. I certainly don't and I doubt that my customer base will.
I don't understand why Microsoft thought this was a great idea and I still want to know when we'll see fully 64-bit versions. Are you, as a Microsoft insider, able to find out and tell us please?

I extracted the ISO, and I see there is a setup64.exe in the "office" sub folder. I also looked at the autorun.inf:
[autorun]
OPEN=setup.EXE /AUTORUN
ICON=setup.EXE,1
shell\configure=&Configure...
shell\configure\command=setup.EXE
shell\install=&Install...
shell\install\command=setup.EXE
But I don't know how to tell the default setup.exe to run the x64 architecture.
