Hi,
Just for additional note:
We can’t manually assign multicast IP address on device(TCP/IP properties). And multicast IP address can only be the destination IP address, we need to install application to add the device to a multicast group.

Hi,
Multicast IP addresses are class-D addresses that fall within two ranges: 224.0.0.0 through 239.255.255.255 (IPv4 addresses) and FF00:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000 through FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF:FFFF(IPv6 addresses).
For intranet use, it is recommended that you use IPv4 addresses in the range 239.*.*.*. Port numbers can range between 1 and 65535. The routers on the network over which you are transmitting your content must be multicast-enabled.

I am confused..On Server 2012 in the TCP/IP properties I can't add the multicast IP to the device? What application do I install to add the device to a multicast group?
Is this easier with Server 2008 R2?
Thanks
