Question

Hi
I recently asked what the CBDHSvc.dll is for - this answer was solved - it's the Clipboard User Service.
Now I wanted to disable the "Clipboard User Service" from services.msc - thought that was a smart move because I don't want anyone to look in my clipboard and I only have one Windows device with my private account.
I received the following error message:
"The parameter is incorrect".
At first when I wanted to disable it, it also created an internal error but it was turned off - but set to manual. And started again ... (edited the last part because it was confusing)
In the system settings I have turned the clipboard history off ...
Any advice?
Regards

Hi,
Thanks for your post in our forum.
As S.Sengupta tested, I have tested the service. I can not disable it too.
try to disable it in the registry.
1. log on as administrator
2. run regedit.msc
3. find the path:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services
4. find KEY named cbdshvc
5. click it and find the registry START on the right
6. modify it to be 4(Disabled)
7. restart the computer to see if it helps.
8. if you cannot modify the value, take the ower of the cbdshvc KEY to be current user(Administrator)
Hope above information can help you.
Thanks for your understanding and support.
Best Regards,
Otto

This doesn't happen to me. I have just disabled the said service for testing and it was fine.
I shall suggest you to reboot your system and recheck the issue. Make sure you are the Admin.

Thanks for both answers!
I appreciate that you took the time and tried it yourself.
I was able to disable it via regedit - thanks a ton!

I've tried to disable cbdhsvc in the registry by changing start to a value of 4. However after a restart, I tested in notepad and copy and paste still works. I'm trying to prevent the ability to use the clipboard thinking this would prevent users from using copy and paste. Any other ideas?
Reason is that we are an ambulance service and crews like to have a template narrative that they copy and paste for every patient but then the details are often not correct for that patient because they are too lazy to change the details to make it specific. We want a true report for every patient and there is no reason they need to copy and paste.
