Hello,
I recently obtained a Toshiba laptop with Windows 10 installed. I should have been more diligent and made certain it was Pro but it came with Home. Can I install a fingerprint reader using Windows 10 Home? How do I obtain the Hello program?
Thanks

Hi Steve,
You might be asked to add a PIN before you can set up Windows Hello.
Most PCs with fingerprint readers are ready to use Windows Hello. You need contact your computer manufacture to see if its hardware support this feature.

If your laptop model comes with Fingerprint recognition hardware then you can definitely use it. You need to download Fingerprint driver which is compatible with Windows 10 from Toshiba's support site.
To use Hello:
Windows Hello requires specialized hardware, including fingerprint reader, illuminated IR sensor or other biometric sensors.
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options to set up Windows Hello. Under Windows Hello, you’ll see options for face, fingerprint, or iris if your PC has a fingerprint reader or a camera that supports it. Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to sign in with a quick swipe or glance. You might be asked to add a PIN before you can set up Windows Hello.

The fingerprint reader is an external reader that did not come with the laptop. I do not seem to have recognition of the reader's existence.
I did install drivers and the reader now lights but I do not seem to have the Window Hello feature on the version of Windows 10 supplied with my Toshiba Satellite C55.

Hi.
I have a Digital Persona fingerprint reader from an earlier version of Windows. i'd like to set it up to work with my win 10 64-bit desktop system, but the CD and accompanying EXE file will not run under Win 10. I've not tried using compatibility modes yet, with or without running as an Admin.
Is there an updated app to work with the Digital Persona? Should I take the chance on running in Admin with or without compatibility?
I simply do't want to spend an entire day on this but will, if necessary. It is an excellent little gizmo and I'd truly like to use it on my system now. It bums me out that Microsoft didn't have an upgrade path for this piece of hardware.
BTW, I did plug it into an open USB port, but my system did not do anything more than beep to acknowledge its insertion.
Can you help me?
Thank you very much,
-a.
