Question

On my new next book the share "sidebar" keeps popping up on the right side of the sceen at what seems to be random times. I have tried to disable it but it is still doing it. This is my first tablet with windows 10. I have two desktops with windows 10 and two laptops. None of the desktops or laptops have this share "sidebar". I know it should be a simple solution but I can not figure it out. Any one know how to disable this annoying "sidebar"? (I am calling it a sidebar but this may not be the correct terminology. It slides in from the right and covers 25 percent of the screen.) Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

In Windows 10, action center is where to find your app notifications, as well as quick actions, which give you quick access to commonly used settings and apps. Change your action center settings at any time from the Settings app.
In the search box, enter settings and then select the Settings app.
Go to System > Notifications & actions.
Do any of the following:
Turn notifications on or off for some or all apps.
Choose whether to see notification banners when a notification arrives.
Choose the quick actions you'll see in action center.
Also you can Set Quiet Hours in Windows 10

Hi Dad49,
A screenshot will be very useful to understand the exact symptom. Upload the screenshot to OneDrive then paste the link here(Delete the underline).
Best regards

kind of hard to take a screenshot when what is malfunctioning is the screenshot function itself.

it appears to be a mouse gesture that makes it popup on my pc. I find that it happens when my finger is on the space bar then slides down from the top of the mouse pad. It is very annoying and I have not figured out how to turn it off yet BUT at least I discovered what is causing it to pop up seemingly at random times. That is half the battle.

Did you ever figure out how to turn this off? I have no idea what makes it keep popping up. I think it has something to do with a tablet that also has a detachable keyboard. You're right that it's very annoying.

The problem seems to be with 2 in 1 machines end it's to do with 'edge swipes' . If you move your finger doen from the space bar to the touch pad it pop up the (extremely useless, unwelcome and intrusive) 'Share Screenshot' popup. Why I would want to keep sharing a screenshot every minute isn't explained. And why on the rare occaision I wanted to I couldn't just capture a screen shot and post it myself I can't understand.
It can be disabled if you have the Synaptics driver where you can find the menu or set a registry key, but these devices seem to emulate a mouse and don't come with any means to disable these 'Side Swipes'
MICROSOFT Side Swipes are the new charms. You dumped charms because they were not charming. Please dump Side Swipes because no one want's to be side swiped. IT IS AWFUL, ANNOYING, AND RIDICULOUS. We need a way to disable this nonsense ASAP

I have never found out how to permanently disable, but hitting the 'Esc' key immediately suppresses that annoying screen.

This advice does not work, at all. This blue Share thing pops up on the right hand side of the screen every time you swipe the mouse in some weird way. It interrupts whatever you're doing and locks the screen until you click something. It is extremely frustrating, and no one has any idea how to turn it off.

Hi, this advice is tough to follow, since there's no way to take a screenshot. This is a blue bar on the right hand side of the screen that says SHARE. It locks up the screen until you click elsewhere. It pops up randomly due to some mouse gesture. Is there any way to turn it off?

It was popping up constantly for me also. The solution for me was to quit touching any of the four edges of the touch pad. Then the problem goes away. Touch the touchpad all you want, but if you touch the top edge of the touchpad and continue to slide down, you will get the share screen. If you touch the right edge of the touchpad and continue to slide left, you will get the action center. If you touch the left edge of the touchpad and continue to slide right you will get a list of your programs running.
Again, the solution is to not touch the edges of the touchpad.
