Windows 10 Home won't connect to Android Xiaomi hot spot.

Question

Tuesday, May 19, 2020 8:11 AM

The same hot spot works with Windows XP, Windows 7 and ubuntu.

Try troubleshooting, but it keeps saying I haven't connected to a wireless network.

This is the only connection I have to connect to the outside world.

I can't even check and update device drivers.

Hi ,

What did you mean about Windows 10 Home won't connect to Android Xiaomi hot spot? Did you mean that the machine can connect to the hot spot but have no internet? Could you please clarify more details to help us understand your issue better?

There are several possible cause windows 10 cannot connect to wireless network, please refer to the following steps:

1.Temporarily disable windows firewall and any third-party AV software to do a check.

2.Uninstall your network adapter.

After the driver has been uninstalled, restart your computer and Windows 10 will automatically install the new driver.

3.If you have other machine that can have internet connection, then you could visit the website of your network adapter manufacturer and download latest drivers for your network adapter.

After installing the latest drivers, check if the issue is solved.

Best Regards,

Candy

Windows 10 Home won't connect to the hot spot at all.
It is verifying and trying to connect. After checking network requirement it comes back saying "Can't connect to this network". I'm typing this on a Windows 7 Pro system and it connects to the same hot spot and works fine.

It is an Acer laptop that has the problem. I downloaded the driver from Acer on to this computer and transferred to the Windows 10. It was the same version of driver already installed. Nevertheless I installed it. I restarted the computer and it hasn't made any difference. I uninstalled the driver and restarted the computer, and no difference either.

There is no Antivirus software installed. I turned off the real-time protection of the Windows Defender. However it doesn't make any difference.

Hi ,

Did you have any other mobile device to do test? Like creating a hotspot on another Android phone and see if windows 10 can connect it.

Also, you might try below methods:

1.Restart the WiFi on the phone and connect again.

2.Rename and change the password of the WiFi net work.

3.Change the band settings of the WiFi adapter from 5.0 Ghz to 2.4 Ghz.

Best Regards,

Candy

It was an embarrassing mistake. I kept putting in a password for my email instead of that for the hot spot.
