Question

I'm having an Outlook 2016 issue that I've been unable to find any support/postings/guidance on.
When sending a meeting request from Outlook and including an attachment with the request, the recipients of this email are receiving what appears to be a regular email (with attachment). There's no place for the recipient to "Accept" the meeting request like there normally would be for an Outlook invite. However, the meeting is "scheduled" on the recipient's calendar. In order to accept the meeting, the recipient would have to open up the scheduled meeting from the calendar directly and click "Accept/Tentative/Decline" from within the Calendar. Obviously, this isn't ideal since the recipients aren't necessarily aware that the email they received in their inbox is actually a meeting request that requires an RSVP of some sort.
Our company email accounts are Gmail based, with GoogleSync used to create a MAPI Outlook connection to the underlying company email accounts. Wondering if this is an incompatibility issue, or a settings issue, or a known issue. The only workaround that I've identified thus far is having the sender send Outlook meeting requests with no attachments, with a followup email containing any relevant attachments that they would have liked to have included along with the meeting request.
Anyone else have experience with this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help/insight.
Chris

Hi Chris,
Based on my research, it seems this is an incompatibility issue, I found several similar issues when searching on internet. It's recommended to contact the support for Gmail to see whether there is any workaround/solution for this.
Besides, some users who encountered this issue were able to work around it via turning off the setting within Gmail for automatically adding the appointment to your calendar. The setting could be found on Calendar setting and scroll down 3/4 of the way.
Please let us know the result.

Steve Fan
