First, I'm not an IT Pro, I was referred here from the Microsoft Community which couldn't answer my question. I have 4 Windows 10 computers. I have Dish satellite for my internet which means I have a metered internet. I get 10 GB/month during the day and 50 GB/month during the hours of 2 am to 8 am. Windows 10 updates were using up all of my daytime allocation of internet. I switched my connections to metered which fixed the problem of my internet being used up but caused update problems (stuck downloads, etc.), probably because I didn't get to manually downloading updates for a few weeks. I'm now using the NETSH command in Task Scheduler to wake my computers and switch between metered and unmetered for my Wi-Fi connections, and this seems to be working OK (other than my tablet which refuses to wake up). However, I have one computer that is connected to my router by Ethernet cable. I understand that the Creators Update has the ability to set a Ethernet connection to metered. What I'm looking for is the command line commands (or PowerShell commands) to switch between metered and unmetered (Ethernet commands analogous to the NETSH wlan Unrestricted and Fixed parameters) so I can set something up in Task Scheduler for my wired computer. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Your statement is correct, Creators Update has the ability to set a Ethernet connection to metered. But, I haven’t heard a command can achieve network switch between Metered and Non-Metered. Only can use UI or registry, there is a link introducing how to operate.

One the other hand, if you are using wireless network, we do have command-line(netsh wlan/mbn) to set network as Metered or Non-Metered.

I thought I'd follow up on this. I now have two computers on Ethernet and one is in my shop where it is a PITA to get up early and do downloads.
Is there now a command to switch between metered and un-metered that I could put in Task Scheduler?
How about a command that overrides the metered connection to download windows updates that I could put in Task Scheduler?
