Windows 10 won't boot to window Desktop after windows update, all advanced recovery options don't work, =all options goes into loop , safe mode boot option comes back to blue screen loop, only opens command prompt
Is there any way out to boot windows to its login or desktop screen again. *have many development software and client's projects and loads of installed apps, documents, altogether above 250GB data on C: drive itself. My PC is SONY Vaio, also it came with SONY VAIO pre-installed system and drivers. I am worried about it. I upgraded from originally installed win 7 to windows 10. * I repent having upgrading to win10. Also I don't want to loose SONY VAIO systems software and drivers even I option of fresh windows install.. Its frustrating,,,
*please help if anyone can assist in how to make it work back as it was looking previously before windows 10 update crash. *

Use a camera or smart phone camera to take pictures and post images into the the thread for these commands:
- Find a flash drive that you can format ( > or = 8 GB)
- Create a bootable Windows 10 iso:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 - Insert the flash drive into any USB port
- Power on the computer and click the applicable keyboard key to open the BIOS boot menu:
http://www.disk-image.com/faq-bootmenu.htm - Boot to the external USB hard drive
- It may take 5 - 10 minutes for the iso to load while viewing the Microsoft Windows icon
- Select the language, time, currency, and keyboard or click next > in the left lower corner click repair your computer
- Click troubleshoot
- Click startup repair and if it fails move to the next step
- Click system restore (start with the oldest restore point and keep repeating) and if it fails or if there are no restore points move to the next step
- Click command prompt > Administrator: X:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe > X:\Sources> type:
FOR ALL OF THESE STEPS PLEASE USE A CAMERA OR SMART PHONE CAMERA TO TAKE PICTURES AND POST IMAGES INTO THE THREAD USING ONE DRIVE OR DROP BOX OR GOOGLE SHARE LINKS. - c:
- dir
- d:
- dir
- x:
- bcdedit /enum
- bcdedit | find "osdevice"
- diskpart
- list disk
- list volume
- select disk 0
- list partition
- select partition 1
- detail partition
- select partition 2
- detail partition
- select partition 3
- detail partition
- select partition 4
- detail partition
If there are any additional partitions on disk 0 please continue in the same fashion displaying the information for each partition. - select disk 1
- list partition
- exit
- chkdsk /r C:
If the drive letter is different from C: in step #18 change C: to this drive letter. This may take many hours and typically displays ETA. - (reboot)
- (Reopen command prompt > administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe > X:\sources> type:
- sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=C:\windows (If the drive letter is different from C: in step #18 change C: to this drive letter. This may take many hours.)
- bootrec /fixmbr
- bootrec /fixboot
- bootrec /scanos
- bootrec /rebuildbcd
- (reboot)
If at any time the repair is successful and you are able to boot normally, then consider the repair fragile and backup all files to another drive or to the cloud and and make a backup image using Macrium (free edition):
https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree
There are more steps pending the results of the above steps.

What about built in Sony Vaio care drivers and system software. It should take care and not clean up them from the PC.
The above steps looks like a fresh windows PC installation or it will repair from existing situation without hampering installed software and hardware drivers and Data.
but, is the above complicated steps only solution after a simple update crash?

Hi,
If you couldn’t boot into safe mode and use recovery options in Win RE, you could only download media tool to fix your windows. you need at least USB drive 8 GB. You need also to change your bios EUFI for bios legacy
In windows advanced option in command prompt type those commands below
Bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Then take out you usb drive and restart your windows to see if that help.
The steps in the link below about fix Windows 10 won't Boot/Start after Update could give some detailed steps.

If you have upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, the system will recognize it automatically because you get windows digital license .
Hope it will be helpful to you

The steps 9 and / or 10 are routine methods to fix windows problems. All files should remain intact with both startup repair and system restore.
Steps 12 - 33 are all diagnostic.
Step 34 should scan, fix, and restore the drive file system.
Step 37 should check and repair the operating system.
Steps 38 - 41 should repair problems with booting Windows 10.
Each of the above steps may need to be modified depending on the results of steps 12 - 33.
And steps 38 - 41 may need to be modified depending on the displayed results.

I had the same problem ......worked 5 days on it and gave up. On my other laptop I went back to the problem a day before I was going to take it in and have it repaired. I found a GREAT fix called windows 10 installation media guide. Get a USB drive that holds at least 8 gig of free space. Use a working laptop that has win 10 and download the media guide to the USB. Once downloaded boot it into your non working laptop and follow the directions for a reinstall of win 10 and keep your files. Keep your USB drive in during the entire process. Lo and behold my dead laptop of which I was going to junk is working great.

If you booted from the iso and click install now it should display license terms. After accepting the license there should be these choices:
1) Upgrade: install Windows and keep files, settings, and applications
The files, settings, and applications are moved to Windows with this option. This option is only available when a supported version of Windows is already running o the computer.
2) Custom: Install Windows only (advanced)
The files, settings and applications aren't moved to Windows with this option. If you want to make changes to partitions and drivers, start the computer using the installation disc. We recommend backing up your files before you continue.
Clicking on option #1 displays:
The upgrade option isn't available if you start your computer using Windows installation media.
If a copy of Windows is already installed on this computer and you want to upgrade, remove the installation media and restart your computer. After Windows has started normally, insert the installation media and run Windows Setup.
It appears that you either opened the computer's Windows advanced troubleshooting menu and used reset with save files or chose option #2 and lost files.
If you did not please indicate step by step what was seen and done.
