What is editor ContextMenu/Annotations?

Question

What is the editor's ContextMenu/Annotations supposed to do? I  can't find any documentations for this.

I made the mistake of picking "Show Line Annotations". This caused a box with "Quick actions available" to appear above the line obscuring the line above. Now I can't get rid of the box. There is no "Stop showing" so how can I get rid of the box?

To hide the annotations, try pressing <Esc>. See also: /en-us/visualstudio/ide/reference/accessibility-tips-and-tricks.

To hide the annotations, try pressing <Esc>.

This is so painfully simple that it's actually not intuitive at all.  I had to right-click to show it, but there's no right-click option to hide it.  Needing to use Google search to figure out all I needed to do was press Esc is frustrating to say the least.
