[Resolved] How do I change the default paste option in OneNote 2016?

Question

Since OneNote 2010 users who have changed their "Set as Default Paste" option to "Keep Text Only (T)"  have been unable to copy and paste images within a note or between notes.

Also users who have changed their "Set as Default Paste" option to "Keep Text Only (T)", "Picture (U)", "Merge Formatting (M)" i.e. anything other than "Keep Source Formatting (K)" have been frequently unable to see how to reset or change the "Set as Default Paste" option.

Here's how to fix both problems:

  1. Copy some text.
  2. Press Ctrl + V to paste. Once the paste is complete you will see this little "Clipboard (Ctrl)" icon appear  next to the pasted text

  1. Click on the icon.
  2. Select the first option "Keep Source Formatting (K)"
  3. Click on  "Set as Default Paste"
TIP: You may need to click on the "Clipboard (Ctrl)" icon a second time if "Keep Source Formatting (K)" was not already highlighted.

  4. That's it! :-)
