Outlook subfolders not displaying unread item number

Question

Monday, November 17, 2014 7:45 PM

Hello,

A coworker has set up his email with a subfolder (Line Leads) under inbox.  Then this Line Leads subfolder has 10-12 subfolders of the actual line lead names.

The problem is that these line lead names folders have started to stop displaying unread mail items.  Some work; while other don't.  Sometimes, a folder will stop working, but then work again the next day.

I did a thorough search through Outlook options, but could not find what I was looking for.  Anyone else encounter this sporadic problem or have a fix?

Thanks!

Hi,

Do you mean the blue numbers next to the folder name?

We may try to close Outlook and then restart it with /cleanviews switch to see the result. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type outlook /cleanviews and press Enter.

Please let me know the result.

It's recommended to download and install Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office programs.

Hello,

Please ensure within the properties of the folder you have selected 'Show number of unread emails'.

To check this simply right click a folder, then under the general tab you should see this selection.

Thanks for your reply.  That seems to have solved the issue.

I did make sure that every sub folder had that setting marked.

Thanks.
