What is "Repost Page" content type?

Question

Tuesday, May 22, 2018 4:29 PM

I'm not sure if they are related but PnP code started failing today on the Site Pages list.  I noticed this content type was added.  I can't actually add this type, its not available from the add button.

Anybody know what this is?

Hi Dangkohler,

Whether this is a custom content type created by other users? You can go to site settings->site content types to check the content type.

Where do you find the content type was added? To add a content type to a Site Pages library, you can go to library  settings->Content Types section->Add from existing site content types.

Best regards,

Grace Wang

I'm taking a guess that this could be related to the new "News Email Digest" feature that was announced at the SharePoint Conference this week.

Hi Dangkohler,

This content type is used to create page of type Link (See below screenshot). Using this you can refer to any existing page or file. it creates the file with ".url" extension.

Hope this answers your query.

Ok but I don't have that option.

In my case the document library isn't using the modern experience so no "Link" option is available.  Also I can confirm that pnp provisioning code is failing when trying to provision this content type.  It fails right after "Adding field 746bb255-b0f7-47d5-9a3e-1c8e52468420 to content type" for the "Repost Page" type.  The strange thing is that if I create a new classic site collection and then get its template, it can apply the "Repost Page" content type successfully to new site collections.  It seems as if this problem only occurs when trying to get a template from an older classic site collection and then trying to apply the template to a new site collection.

I am having the exact same issue since sometime after the 18th May (when our last site collection was provisioned from a template create in 2017).

Error: Invalid field name. {746bb255-b0f7-47d5-9a3e-1c8e52468420}

What is the fix guys? Our users are requesting provisioning use these templates as it has our branding, settings, libraries etc. The site provisions, but wont apply the template, so we end up with the out-of-the box Site Collection template.

Whats the fix?

In regards to the "Repost Page" content type showing up, we are now experiencing a Missing Info field warning message on populated fields using managed metadata.  Any idea if these are related?  It started happening last week.

In SharePoint Online, the fix for the issues with the PnP Provisioning Engine related to the "Report Page" content type is to recreate the source template. You can find the explanation of the fix here. https://pgbhoyar.com/2018/06/06/pnp-provisioning-error-field-not-found-issue-with-the-repost-page-content-type/

In case you haven't all got the answer to the question of what is the Repost Page content type, it's a new type of News page, that simply grabs information (Headline, article summary, image) from a page at a target URL and posts it in the news (Site Pages) library.

It's a super easy way to pull public facing news into a SharePoint site. The only downside is that it's tricky to edit after adding it, as you can't get at the 'page' to make changes; you can edit properties from the library however.
