Question

This is a cross-post from here, since they didn't think I had a valid OneDrive question.
I recently had some problems with an app that has files synced to OneDrive. I noticed one of the files was always syncing and never finished.
Absolutely every operation I attempt to make on the file results with this error:
Error 0x80071128: The data present in the reparse point buffer is invalid.
It's also not related to this because this is a Windows 10 Pro laptop (Surface Book 2) and not joined to a domain.

Hello,
I am having this same issue on windows 10. The file that is locked is my quickbooks accounting system. I have tried a variety of solutions shown in various threads. Nothing seems to work. Any update on this issue?

Nope.
Didn't solve.
Even "Unlink this PC" and relocating Synced folders didn't resolve it.

Open Admin command prompt**:**
chkdsk c: /F /R
Answer Y, restart and allow disk check - this worked for me
(assumes OneDrive is on C:, if different drive then replace it with your drive letter e.g. D:...)

This doesn't fix the issue for me

Worked for me. Thx!
Had this reparse buffer error situation couple times now. Usually surfacing after desynchronising Teams/Sharepoint storage in OneDrive, and trying to delete the locally synched folder.

Worked for me too, thank you!! Note that it takes 15 mins or so to process, and might need to do so while you restart.

This answer, not only didn't solve my problem, but created another one:
We couldn’t save the list of folders you chose to sync
The commands started to sync everything I had on Onedrive online, although I had selected just a few folders for my PC. When I tried to unselect them, the "We couldn’t save the list of folders you chose to sync" error appeared.
Be careful if you want to try this answer.

Awesome! Thank you so much. I have 200+ staff on multiple Sharepoint sites. Constantly having to run the reset command, unlink PC, stop sync and delete root Libraries and re-sync. COnstantly. Bloody headache and you have helped my day.
