Question

Hello there,

we just started to get the following error when we build/rebuild the solution with VS 2017 (The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open). we tried almost everything from updating windows, updating VS and restart the machine few time but not luck, this is happening not only for me but the all our team running Windows 10.

Any idea, suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks

Hi Musti Hanah,

Thank you for posting here.

Since your question is more related to VS, I will move it to Visual Studio General Questions for suitable support.

Does this error occur on all projects?

Best Regards,

Wendy

Hi Musti Hanah,

Welcome to the MSDN forum.

“The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open”, generally indicates some DLL are locked.

Please go through with the following steps to troubleshooting it:

  1. Temporarily disable all anti-virus and firewall
  2. Open task manager – close all process
  3. delete obj folder, close all instances and reopen vs as admin to rebuild again.

meanwhile, there are some members discussed with similar thread and you should have a look: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/4658354/the-requested-operation-cannot-be-performed-on-a-file-with-a-user-mapped-section .

Please feel free to let us know if it works or not.

Sincerely

May
