Sharepoint 2013 default.aspx 403 Forbidden

Question

Hey Everyone,

Just got out SP 2013 Server up and running. It was running beautifully for me only. No one else could go to the /deafult.aspx site except for me. I am the primary site collection admin for that site. I went to add a few co-workers to the privileges. I created the Web Application as Deafult Website, and the 1 Site Collection I created was for my default site. So http://Site/deafult.aspx

I added my co-workers as Full Control admins of the Web App, and the site collection. Now, none of us cannot get to the /default.aspx site. I get the 403 forbidden error. Even though I am the Primary Admin.

I have looked into the event viewer, and I cannot see anything that is logged to show me why this is happening. I can still get into the Sharepoint Control fine.

for 403 forbidden error, please take a look at http://blogs.technet.com/b/praveenh/archive/2013/04/30/intermittent-quot-http-403-forbidden-quot-error-while-trying-to-browse-to-a-sharepoint-web-app.aspx for troubleshoot method.

And i would suggest you to re-run the SharePoint product configuration wizard in case file system permission for SharePoint installation is not assigned properly. There are some local groups whose name start with WSS_ on SharePoint server which needs attention: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc678863.aspx

I was going to just delete the site collection and re-create but I cannot because it is to the default site.

Log into your sharepoint site in IE on the Sharepoint server as your sp admin account and see if that works. If so, go to site settings and change site permissions in there as they should be. Presumably you changed the original permissions within the site settings, not anything in central admin? Let us know if that works.

I re-ran the Sharepoint Product Config Wizard, and I was able to log back into the default site! Thank you!

Hi All,

Whoever is facing issue of 403 forbidden. The solution is Re-run the SharePoint Configuration wizard on all WFE AND APP Servers. Issue is getting fixed.

I had faced same issue and this solution is worked for me. Thanks for sharing this information.

I have performed below actions:- Before Running SP Config Wizard, Please check below once

1) WFEmake host entry of itself and hitting the URL's -- throwing the 403 forbidden access for all web applications.

2) another WFE:- making host entry to point itself:- throwing the 403 forbidden access for all web applications

3) APP:- pointing to one of WFE-- throwing 403 forbidden access for all web applications

Then, I realise issue may be between IIS & SP, Authentication is not passing.

I have re-run the SP Config wizard on all three servers and issue fixed permanently. I am able to access all web applications without any error, issues or 403 forbidden access.

Thanks,
