Unable to Print due to no Print Dialogue in Microsoft Edge

Question

Thursday, October 1, 2015 4:34 AM

I'm having difficulty to print my pdf file using edge, when opening a PDF with EDGE, so clicking the settings three dots ... (below the x top right) gives me a Print option or Ctrl+P but did not brings up the print dialogue. Need help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Unfortunately we cannot test it due to print limitation of our environment, I found some discussion about similar issue on edge in adobe forum.

Seems like caused by bad compatibility between Adobe Acrobat and Windows Edge. The temporary workaround is save it or open it with another program and print it.

Hello,

You can try to open the PDF file in any other program and print it from there, see if it helps. Else try the printer troubleshooter under Control Panel > Troubleshooting > View all > Printer.

Hope this helps, Good luck :)

Do you get the print dialogue appear for anything else?

What printer do you have, have you tried to see if there is newer driver software available?

Ctrl+P but did not brings up the print dialogue.

It's not the usual Print dialog and the Task bar is completely oblivious of it. If it was opening off screen I have no idea how you could know for sure if it was really there or not.

Let's see what Narrator "says" when we do this.  I have moved it to my other monitor and closed it first.  Hmm... that didn't have the effect I was hoping.  It is still opening visibly over the Edge window.  In any case Narrator is being very helpful about telling me what I can see as I press Tab and navigate inside it.  It might help you the same way even if you can't see what it says is there.

Otherwise Resource Monitor is constantly showing me two modules related to printing for MicrosoftEdgeCP.exe, so not much of a clue there about when the dialog would be open.

I imagine a better tool to use would be Process Explorer (ProcExp) for its Find tool but you won't have anything to drag it to.  Hmm... ProcExp is only finding explorer.exe?  What sense does that make? So that shows that my ResMon analysis would have been faulty (e.g. excluding explorer.exe) but even when I add it the set of data is still static (I think).

You may have better luck comparing diagnostics with both your problem case and an assumed good case.

Good luck
