Inbox Rules set to a folder that no longer exists

Question

Hello,

Out of curiosity, if there is an old inbox rule set to move certain mail to a folder that has recently been deleted, where can I find the messages that the rule still applies to? The rule stated that the mail was to be moved to [folder not found]. I saw a new email for a couple of seconds, and it was moved somewhere, but it is nowhere to be found when I search for it.

Thanks

Hi,

I did a test in my Outlook 2013, here is the result:

If I delete the folder, as long as the deleted folder is still in the Deleted Items folder, the rule will move the emails to the folder under Deleted Items.

If I delete the folder under the Deleted Items, I get a rule error when receiving the email, the email will stay in the Inbox folder.

So in your case, I suggest you check the deleted folder under Deleted Items, probably you will find the email.
