Question

I just received new Dell workstation with dual monitors. The primary monitor is used for general purpose, while extended monitor is used to view security camera. I need to keep the extended monitor on at all time with camera view, so I turned off screen saver and sleep features as both monitors are affected by these features. Problem is I have to keep the primary monitor on at all time as well.
If I turn of the primary monitor, the PC will switch the secondary monitor as primary with all the desktop items moved in to it. And then, when the original primary monitor is turned back on, it become primary again and moves everything (including the security camera view) to the primary.
Is there a way to prevent auto switching of the primary<->extended monitor?

I cannot tell you how to do exactly what you want but maybe this different approach will work
https://www.techjunkie.com/always-on-top-windows-10/
This can keep you Camera app always on top so when you shut off the other monitor and everything moves over at least you wont have to do anything because it will all still be behind the Camera app.
Also, I use to work with Dell but I do not anymore. Back when I did however, I remember having this VP setup to three monitors. Two small at his desk and a large one on the other side of the room for meetings. He could hit a button or combo of buttons as I recall that would take it from dual monitor mode to showing on the big screen. I think I set that up by having it switch from Extend to Duplicate on the button press. When extended it showed both small monitors but on duplicate I adjusted the settings to duplicate screen 1 on the TV so simply pressing this button combo when back and forth. Something like that might work for you too.

@Kiki Shi; Yea, seems many others are frustrated as I am. None on that post works, and seems it's a bug that Microsoft has never fixed.
@Kiodos; I've read about that Always-on-Top app. That would help at least make the camera view on top. Looks like I'll have resort to it for now.
Thank u all.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Following method you can have a try:
Start Control Panel --> Device Manager Select View --> Show hidden devices Expand Computer --> Monitors
When you expand the Monitors you will see your current monitor (highlighted) and all the disconnected monitors (greyed out). You may see monitors with "non-PNP" and "PNP" listed as well. I believe these are aliases to your current monitor (at a lower resolution) before Windows installed drivers for it. I uninstalled ALL the greyed out monitors. Right-click on these monitors and select uninstall. Keep only the highlighted monitor you are currently using. Uninstall all greyed out monitors (even non-PNP and PNP monitors) Reboot your system. After doing this my windows don't resize after my monitor goes to sleep. You can quickly test this by temporarily setting your monitor sleep time to 1 minute.
Settings --> System --> Power & Sleep --> Screen [1 minute]
Besides, you can refer to the following link:

@Kiki Shi; Please note, that by putting Power/Sleep/ScreenSaver on, it effects all monitors. I cannot have the extended monitor go to sleep/ScreenSaver etc., as it must be on at all times for security monitoring. That's why I have those features all turned off. I'm just turning power off of primary monitor to prevent burn-ins. But I will try uninstalling all the greyed out monitors to see if that makes any difference. Thanks.
