Question
Monday, September 12, 2016 2:08 PM
I have a bunch of thin clients that need to be upgraded to the latest rdp client.
They are currently running windows 7 embedded.
In order to get my USB redirection to work with a windows 10 VM, I need to upgrade the RDP client to at least RDP version 8.1, (I think).
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade the OS to 10? If so what is the upgrade path? Also is there a way to run 8.1 rdp client on windows 7 embedded? Or maybe even rdp client version 10.0 on windows 7 embedded?

I think licensing restrikes OS upgrade path. The question is more suited to a Microsoft distributor.
You may want to go back to the Think Client manufacturer to see if they have an upgrade to Windows 10.
I am going to move this thread to the Windows IoT forum as this one is for POS Ready.

Hello CannotCompute,
Your first line of support is through the OEM or device reseller from whom you purchased the device. Only they will be able to confirm the upgrade path they have chosen for their devices.

It is actually a WES7 DELL WYSE thin client. I know they would know but they are really slow at getting back so I just wanted to see if I could get some quick information here.

You have to go to the manufacturer regarding upgrades. Thin clients are limited in space so it is not so simple to just upgrade the OS.
