Quick Assist - Administrator Mode

Question

Wednesday, March 20, 2019 11:43 AM

Hello Guys,

I would like a little help, as a IT Support Analyst I liked very much the new tool Quick Assist, the only problem is that we cannot use it to support 100% of the problems.

As everybody now, when you try to install a software or anything that needs administrator access, automatically Quick assist block my access waiting for a administrator and password user.

Quick assist is a very helpful tool, but as I said, without an option to set my administrator user and password the tool is a little unusable.

Is it possible to fix? I can create a administrator user and password temporary and give to the user for that occasion but it is not the best solution.

Best Regards,

Deivid Araujo

Hi Deivid Araujo,

I'm afraid that we cannot change this policy, since it is designed:
The user on the other end is being prompted for credentials. Your remote session gets paused while the system waits.

For preventing the behavior, you could choose other tools to do remote session.

So the bottom line is Microsoft is refusing to allow remote administrative support via Windows tools.

I can understand the reasoning for this however I agree...if the remote user you are helping does not have admin rights on their computer (as all of our clients are setup like this), the tool is kinda pointless. Guess we will be keeping our GoToAssist subscription then (even that can be flakey at times).
