Missing the 'Link' Export To A PST File Under on 'In-Place eDiscovery & Hold'

Question

Thursday, September 4, 2014 10:08 PM

I have run an ediscovery query and have exported the results to my ediscovery mailbox.  I want to export the query results to a PST, but the links referenced on (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn440164%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx) don't show on my page.

Specifically, when I look at my 'compliance management' link, I do not see a link for 'Export to PST' on my page, and where the down arrow is located.  I only see a refresh circle (two arrows following each other)

Any help is appreciated.

Is the account you're using in the required groups?  This link from that page describe the requirements.

Hi,

Please make sure the account has the permissions to perform this procedure or procedures.

Under the feature “In-Place eDiscovery and Hold”, we need Discovery Management and Organization Management.

You can run the Get-ManagementRoleAssignment cmdlet to look at the role groups or management roles assigned to you to see if you have the permissions that are necessary to manage the feature.

Refer from:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638205(v=exchg.150).aspx

To add a User to the Discovery Management Role Group:

  1. Navigate to Permissions > Admin roles.
  2. In the list view, select Discovery Management and then click Edit.
  3. In Role Group, under Members, click Add.
  4. In Select Members, select one or more users, click Add, and then click OK.
  5. In Role Group, click Save.

To know more about Organization Management:

Hope this will be helpful for you.

Yes.  I have added it to the Discovery, Compliance and Organization Management Groups.  This is more than what is supposed to be required.

The account does have Discovery, Compliance and Organization Management permissions already.

As a secondary note, I have confirmed the following:

1) I am using IE 11 with .Net 4.5 framework

2) The role has Discovery, Compliance, and Organization management roles

3) I even added the import/export permission to the discovery role and I can confirm at a mailbox level, I can export them.

The user that you are using to create a *.PST file must have the right to do so. The right is not default assigned to users that manage Exchange (Organization Admins)

Use the following command to assign the right to user:

New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Role “Mailbox Import Export” –User “<enter username here>"

Use the following command to create a group and assign the right to the group.

New-ManagementRoleAssignment –Role “Mailbox Import Export” –Group “MailboxAccessGroup"

Now you can add users to the group using ADAC.
