Re-sharing a shared printer

Question

Tuesday, August 22, 2017 8:19 PM

Here's my situation:

Printer X shared through Server 1 on Network A, behind firewall

Server 2 with connections to Network A and Network B (physically separate networks)

PC 1 on Network B

Need PC 1 to be able to print to Printer X.  Giving Server 2 access through firewall to Printer X has been deemed an unacceptable option, as has giving PC 1 a direct connection to Network A.

I've heard that back in the XP/2003 days, you could do this by manually setting up a new printer on Server 2 with a local port to the shared printer on Server 1 (port name \Server1\PrinterX).  However, it appears that got broken somewhere along the way since.

Does anyone know a way to do this today?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but these are not what I'm looking for.  I'm not trying to share a directly-connected printer, I'm trying to (re-)share a printer where the only access is that it's shared on another system.
