I sometimes disable referrals on a specific DFS namespace server, but it seems to take the clients a few hours to make the changes According to Microsoft the DFS server will periodically poll AD. Is there a faster way to push that change out to all servers/clients? AD changes only take seconds to get to all DCs, and that is not the issue, so not concerned about the repadmin side of things.
When an administrator makes a change to the domain-based namespace, the change is made on the Primary Domain Controller (PDC) emulator master. Domain controllers and DFS root servers periodically poll PDC for configuration information. If the PDC is unavailable, or if "Root Scalability Mode" is enabled, Active Directory replication latencies and failures may prevent servers from issuing correct referrals. Hi Dave,
You could consider to use dfsutil cache, it could displays or flushes the client cache
