Excel Overrides Custom Printer Settings

Question

Hi there,

Recently, a client of ours has purchased themselves a new Ricoh MP C4503 printer. We set this up on the network as we always do, like with the other Ricoh printers they have. Because the client uses all 4 trays available, they wanted this printer set up as an individual printer per tray if this makes sense (i.e. a printer for Tray 1, a printer for Tray 2 etc) so that they don't have to change the settings when they print.

This is all fine, shared OK and adds to the PC's fine. When you send test prints, it all prints to the correct settings - happy days.

However, when you go to print from excel, excel completely ignores the custom settings set on the printer and just goes straight to the last tray selected. I have tried creating a new document, manually selecting the correct trays from the excel printer properties and saving this - it does not work.

This does not happen anywhere else other than Excel, Word it is fine. The printers have been re-added, completely set up from scratch, using a PCL 6 driver with no luck.

Even the printer support guy doesn't have a clue.

Can anyone potentially advise me here please?

Many thanks in advance.
