Hi,

I would like to confirm if this error occurs when you try to open Outlook Today.

If this is the situation, the issue is most likely caused by the followings:

1. Outlook Today home page is corrupted.

2. Outlwvw.dll file is missing or damaged.

You can try the methods below to see if the problem can be resolved.

Method 1: Restore Outlook Today

===========

1. Start Outlook and right click Outlook Today then click Properties.

2. Click the Home Page tab.

3. Click Restore Defaults, and then click OK.

If the problem persists, let’s go to next method.

Method 2: Turn off Outlook Today and rename Outlwvw.dll

=======================

Step 1: Turn off Outlook Today

1.       Click Start, in the Search box, type regedit and press Enter.

***2.      *** Navigate to  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Today

3.       Right click on Today, point to New and click DWORD value.

4.       Type Disable and press enter.

5.       Right click Disable and click Modify.

6.       In the Value Data box, type 1 and then click OK.

7.       Close the registry editor and start Outlook.

Step 2: Replace a Damaged or Missing Outlwvw.dll File

1.  Locate the damaged outlwvw.dll file in the your <drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14 folder.

2.  Rename the file to Outlwvw.old

Step 3: Turn on Outlook Today

You can enable Outlook Today again by either deleting the "Disable" registry value or setting it to 0 in Step 1. Outlook stores Outlook Today user defined settings for Startup, Calendar, or Tasks options in the above registry key.

If the problem persists, let’s go to next method.

Method 3: Repair Outlook

=================

1. Double-click Programs and Features in Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Office 2010 entry listed in uninstall or change a program dialog box and click Change.

3. Click "Repair" and click Continue.

4. Wait the setup to complete.

By the way, there is a KB article about this issue:

Error message when you try to view the "Outlook Today" page in Outlook

Best Regards,

Hi Sally,

I have just purchased Outlook 2010 and am trying to set it up and also run my old versions of Excel, Word & Access Office 2003 versions.

I had the problem Line 278 problem and found your answers on the web. I tried 'Method 1' that did not work - So I tried 'Method 2' except when I got to step 2 there was not file called outlwvw.dll -  and although your heading said replace a damaged or missing file - it did not tell me what to do if the file was missing ?

Anyway - I still had the problem so I did 'Method 3' -  Which I am pleased to say solved that problem -  I would mention that in my version of Outlook I had to click 'Programs' then 'Programs and features'  and also rather than double click Office 2010 I had to right click and click change.

Many Thanks. Peter

Hi Sally - I just downloaded Microsoft Office 2010 today and I get the same Internet Explorer Script Error every time I log into Outlook

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Line: 278
Char: 1
Error: Class not registered
Code: 0
URL: outlook.today

Do you wish to continue running scrips on this page?

Yes No

I tried ALL three steps to no avail.

Step 1 - Did not see where to click on Outlook Today to restore defaults.

Step 2 - Could not find any file named Outlwvw.dll

Step 3 - Made changes to registry - did not work.

Also installed and uninstalled many times with no success.

Any other ideas???

Please help!!!

Is the folder that you have identified correct?  The only instance of the OUTLWVW.DLL file that I can locate is in the  <drive>\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\1033 folder.

I tried all three solutions without much success.  Still getting error on startup; still get error when going into Customize Outlook Today and when I cancel OUT of Customize Outlook Today.

I have screen shots of errors if that would be helpful.

Thanks

Paul

Where is Outlook Today in Outlook 2010?  Also, clicked on support article mentioned above and there wasn't a fix for 2010.

Sally, you are awesome!  Your suggestion with the registry edit worked like a charm!

Sally, I have Office 2013 with the same error.

I've navigated this path and get as far as 'Outlook' and there is no folder with "Today" on it

Also, I don't see Outlook Today anywhere when I try method one.

****Navigate to  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Today

Please help or give me more info, thanks much!****
