Windows 10 Keeps Deleting My Bluetooth Drivers and Installing Broken Garbage

Question

Wednesday, November 8, 2017 4:18 AM

The default Windows 10 Bluetooth support is garbage. There's ZERO security, you cannot specify COM ports, and device management is a nightmare.

Fortunately, excellent alternatives exist. I uninstalled the default bluetooth drivers and installed my perfect alternative. It works great. However, after I'm finished using Bluetooth and turn off my devices for a while, Windows 10 casually deletes those drivers and installs a broken version of the original garbage.

I even disabled automatic driver updates and deleted the original software and this STILL happens. Microsoft, why are you so creepy now? Please stop doing ten million stupid things in the background of my computer and just let me handle my own device.

Hi,

I remember that Microsoft does have this mechanism that will automatically install drivers from Windows Update. Disable automatic driver updates is a choice. I notice you've done it, but it's not work. Have you tried to block it by editing the Registry and Local Group Policy Editor.

Or you could record the Bluetooth Drivers Hardware IDs in device management. Then prevent Windows from automatically updating specific drivers.

There's another way we can try. Go to device manager in windows (start > right click my computer icon > properties > device manager). Then right click Bluetooth Drivers and update it. Choose browse my computer for driver software to install.

Hope it will be helpful to you

HI I was having the exact same issue with windows 10 and it was driving me crazy.

i'm not a tech guy but I went through the process several times of reinstalling the wireless bluetooth driver only to have windows delete it a couple of days later. Finally i reset the computer all together and reinstalled windows, still the same result.

So i was just clicking through the device manager by process of elimination i selected> View> Hidden Drivers and looking through that list i found the bluetooth driver so i started looking at its properties and in one of the sub menus i finally found a screen that said "allow windows to disable this driver to save power" with a check box that had a tick in it. So i unchecked it.

I have no idea if this was the problem but so far so good the bluetooth has remained.

hope it helps
