Receiving Error 55 when running net statistics server command

Question

Thursday, November 10, 2016 3:27 PM

I ran net statistics server on my 2012R2 server and received System Error 55.  I saw a solution earlier to restart Server Services, but this did not resolve the issue.  I think it's worth noting that this server has been 'bricking' once a week for quite a while now.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Might check the system event log for clues. Bricking sounds like a complete freeze which may be an issue with memory or the CPU itself.

Hi,

For Error 55: "The specified network resource is no longer   available" (ERROR_DEV_NOT_EXIST).

You could check troubleshooting steps from this link for your reference:

In our scenario disabling/removing SMB1 caused this issue. More specifically after we ran the below PowerShell, 'net stats svr' began generating the 'System Error 55' message:

**   Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName smb1protocol**

Re-enabling SMB1 as follows made it go again:

   Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName smb1protocol

Since 'net stats svr' is not at all critical to our operation, we opted to remove/disable it.
