How to get files from network shortcut folder?

Question

Sunday, January 6, 2019 5:14 AM

I just get myself a NAS system and been then during the moving period of all my files to my NAS I accidentally copy the files on the network shortcut on windows explorer on the root folder and then it's transported to the network shortcut folder instead of the NAS, that I am using.

Then I check my app-> roaming-> network shortcuts folder and find out I have 10gb of folder size in there, but when I open the folder it's empty and just contain the network shortcut only, I tried using the view hidden files and uncheck the hide protected operating system files but still can't find any of my items on the folder.

Can anyone help me with how to retrieve back some of my files that stuck on that folder?

Hello Hyuver,

Is there WinRAR on your NAS system? Try using this software to open that path and see if you can see hidden files.

Hi Hyuver,

I mean you can try to use WinRAR to view this file, because WinRAR can see some hidden files.

As shown in this image, first enter this page, then enter the file path to view this file.

Leon

Have you tried to delete these files by using the command line?

cmd> delete *.lnk (for example)

can't delete anything, I try deleting the folder using explorer and it's try to delete everything on the NAS that is connected, however when I play around using command line I found something interesting, there supposed to be only 2 folder there, however using the dir command on the network shortcut folder I found out there is 4 folder but the other 2 folder is hidden/not showing even on the command line.

Hi leon, I am not sure if this has anything to do with the NAS, but I am pretty sure the file is stuck on my network shortcut folder on my windows PC but unaccesible/not shown for whatever reason.

I try looking for the folder/file that in my unraid server but no luck so far.
