Question

Good morning,
I just recently configured a a new Hyper-V cluster with 1 Hyper-V node attached to it. It is presently hosting 7 virtual machines.
I need to rename the node. Can I accomplish this without much work or will I have to re-deploy the cluster?
Thanks in advance!

Simple process to rename the cluster. In the Cluster Manager, select the root of the cluster in the left-hand tree, go to Cluster Core Resources in the center panel, right-click on the server name and select Properties. Change the name.

Nice one. I am working with Hyper-V for quite some while but didn't knew that. Thanks Tim!
The only thing is, he wants to change the hostname of a Hyper-V Server, not the Hyper-V Cluster. I have just checked what you described, it does not allow me to change the hostname of a server, only the cluster.
As far as I know the only way to rename a Hyper-V node is to first 'evict' the Hyper-V node, rename it and then re-join the Hyper-V Cluster. As described below:
Q: I have a cluster and want to change the name of hosts in the cluster; is this OK?

But, in your case you can't, because you run a single-node cluster. This means you have re-build your cluster.

Renaming the server itself will require you to evict the node from the cluster, then rename, then Add the node back to the cluster.
Thanks!
