HDR mode and color profiles

Question

Sunday, February 11, 2018 12:14 AM

Hello

I have a calibrated ICC profile for normal sRGB mode. When i switch to HDR mode, it still using the calibrated profile, and giving weird colors and white balance.

I have tried to add a Rec.2020 HDR profile to ICC-profile (Advance color) list in color management. But I can´t use it at standard colors in HDR mode. Nothing happens when i try to applied it.

So to be clear:

In normal mode I want to use calibrated icc profile for sRGB.

And in HDR mode, using the standard REC.2020 icc profile.

Hi,

For the first issue, we could configure this settings through the following link:

How to assign an sRGB ICC Profile to your monitor (Windows)

For the second issue, we need to make sure your display monitor support 3840 × 2160 ("4K") or higher 7680 × 4320 ("8K"). As Rec.2020 defines various aspects of ultra-high-definition television (UHDTV) with standard dynamic range (SDR) and wide color gamut (WCG)

If your hardware is not support the requirement, it would can't display after we changed configuration to it.

Hello

Off course all is HDR ready. Samsung TV screen with real 10-bit HDR panel, and a Geforce GTX 1080 (can take up to 8k). I using the new Belkin HDMI 2.1 cabel that´s support op to 8k or 4k 120 hertz. Windows goes easily to HDR mode with 10-bit 4:2:2.

I have assign my own ICC profile sRGB calibrated with Spyder 4 Pro. I use the same way to apply it as in the link. BUT, if i choose HDR mode in windows, it still use my calibrated ICC profile. And it look horible.

I have find a standard rec.2020 ICC profile. But is annoying I always forced to change the profiles manual. In the same way by the link, I can choose a profile for advance color (to HDR mode). But I can´t choose the Rec.2020 profile when I import it as advance color.

Windows is new installed for 2 days ago. Fully updated in all drivers and software.

Hi,

What's your computer model?

As Microsoft acritical says, support HDR need to meet the following requirements:

The built-in display needs to able to display 300 nits or more.
The Windows 10 device needs to have an integrated graphics card that supports PlayReady hardware digital rights management (for protected HDR content), and it must have the required codecs installed for 10-bit video decoding. (For example, devices that have a 7th Generation Intel Core processor, code-named Kaby Lake, support this.)
The Windows 10 device manufacturer needs to have enabled HDR on the device.

Please type "MSinfo32" in Windows search box to open System information, and upload them to One Drive then paste the link here.

The screen can go up to 350 nits. HDCP 2.2 is enable. But as I said before, I can swith over HDR. I can play games in HDR mode. I can see video content in HDR. The color is just messed up, because windows loads my sRGB Icc profile.

Hi,

Thank you for your actions.

It seems there is no problem about the hardware.

Would you upload your own ICC profile to One Drive? We will try to check if the same issue occur on our side.
