The Azure for Education sign up form no longer works. The School name field shows no options after typing into it (used to come up with "SUNY College of Technology at Alfred State" or something similar when I would type in "Alfred") and it always fails to verify academic status after clicking submit.

None of us at my organization have permission to use Engage Center to bring up these issues to support engineers. So far I have tried emailing our account reps, no answer so far. And have started a chat on X with Azure support, which they suggested calling for support. The phone number just said to get support through the portal which we do not have access to.

When I pointed out unhelpful it is to get redirected to a product one does not have access to on a continual basis, the support rep directed me to post it here. So this is what I'm doing.Screenshot 2026-10-21 132632

Likely cause: this looks like a student verification / school-directory lookup failure in the Azure for Education sign-up flow, not something you configured incorrectly. The symptoms you describe (school field not resolving + verification failing) usually come from eligibility lookup/session issues.

    1. Re-run the sign-up in a clean session.
      • Use an InPrivate/Incognito window.
      • Sign in only with the student account you want to verify.
      • Disable browser extensions/ad blockers for the session.
    2. Validate eligibility prerequisites before retrying.
      • Azure for Students requires full-time student eligibility at an accredited institution and academic verification.
      • The offer is limited to one Azure for Students subscription per eligible user.
    3. Retry with strict profile consistency.
      • Use the same school email domain tied to your institution.
      • Ensure country/region and profile details are accurate and consistent.
      • If your school selector still returns no entries, capture screenshot + UTC timestamp.
    4. If verification still fails, request escalation with reproducible details.
      • Provide: student email domain, institution name, browser + version, UTC time, and screenshot of failed school lookup.
      • Ask for backend verification of school-directory mapping for your institution.
    5. Temporary workaround (if you must continue immediately).
      • You can use other Azure subscription offers for immediate testing while the student-verification issue is reviewed.
      • Check billing implications first; Azure for Students has specific credit/term conditions.

    Validation checks:

    • School appears in the institution search list.
    • Academic verification completes successfully.
    • Azure for Students subscription is provisioned and credit is visible.
